About us

La Cachette has been our family home since 1978, when our parents bought this chalet and named it 'The Shelter' or La Cachette in french. Currently we maintain La Cachette with the four children. Hank (physiotherapist), Anne (exercise therapist-Mensendieck for musicians and violin teacher for toddlers/beginners), Carolien (pianist) and Noud (paediatrician).

Verbier began to grow in the 1970s and the 'la Pleyeuse project' was planned as development situated above the village of Verbier, of which La Cachette is part. La Cachette is situated on southern slope on the originally gravel road Route de la Marlène and the hollow sandy path of the Chemin de Nifortsié. The road is now all season accessible.

We spent many winters and summers here with our parents. Long ski days in winter, in the morning via the slope in front of the house along the Chemin de Nifortsié to Savoleyres skiing and in the evening after the ski day rosy in a nice warm chalet with hot chocolate, games and a book or Donald Ducks on the couch.

Our youth in La Cachette

In the summer we walk around Verbier, to Chûte de Bisse, the Pierre Avoi, Croix-de-Coeur, Lac des Vaux and to Cabane Mont-Fort walking over la Chaux without lifts. But also further into the Val de Bagnes or other valleys. The dam of Mauvoisin and Cabane Chanrion, Cabane Panossière and the Plateau du Trient were, and still are, toppers. In early summer, enjoying the blossoming alpine meadows and in autumn, so many unimaginable colours of yellow, orange, brown and red.

And today we, children and grandchildren, enjoy coming to this beautiful area. In winter we enjoy skiing and in summer we hike, both familiar and new, sometimes overnight in a hut.

For lazy days, the balcony or garden is a lovely place to be, with views of the snowy peaks of the Combin and Mont Blanc massifs. Verbier also has a wide range of sporting activities on offer: many cycle routes, a beautiful swimming pool, a superbly situated golf course and a sports centre.

In the various logbooks is over 40 years kept what everyone, both we as owners and (loyal) tenants, experienced in La Cachette.

We want La Cachette a cosy and "warm" chalet to be, a home and resting place for the holidays. With a personal atmosphere, pleasantly decorated, games and books and pictures from the area on the wall.
We welcome you and hope you enjoy it as much as we do!
